BARCELONA have already agreed a deal in principle with Schalke's Leroy Sane, according to reports in France.
The 20-year-old has had a £40million price tag slapped on him by his German employers who are desperate to hang on to their star player.
But the club were rocked this week as Sane was reported to have told them that he wants to leave the Veltins-Arena.
And according to France Football today, Sane's representatives have already come to an agreement with Barca over a six-year deal despite the fact he is under contract at Schalke until 2019.
Interest from the Premier League has been strong: Arsenal sent scouts to Germany in October to watch the player while former Bundesliga boss Jurgen Klopp refused to rule out a Liverpool move for the attacker.
But it is Man City who had emerged as the leaders in the competition for the player with £40m seemingly not a stumbling block for the UAE-owned outfit.
However, the Premier League clubs were rocked when it emerged Barcelona had joined the race and this latest revelation will send alarm bells ringing across England.
Sane originally announced himself to Europe when he scored one and set up the winner as Schalke beat Real Madrid 4-3 at the Bernabeu in March 2015.
That was the youngster's Champions League debut and he has since established himself as Schalke's main man, especially since the summer departure of Julien Draxler for Wolfsburg.
And although Schalke will be loathe to lose their second talisman in a year, reports suggest they will struggle to hang on to him past the summer.
