ARSENE WENGER does not need to make any new signings in January, says former Arsenal striker Alan Smith.
The Gunners completed the £7million arrival of midfielder Mohamed Elneny from Basel last week following injuries to Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla.
Wenger has been linked with a high-profile move for a striker this month to add competition for target man Olivier Giroud.
The likes of Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bayer Leverkusen's Javier Hernandez have been linked with the north London club.
But Smith says there's no need with Danny Welbeck, who has been out of action since April with a knee injury, closing in on a return from injury.
He told Sky Sports: "Danny Welbeck is apparently only three weeks away and that will help them if he comes back in the kind of form he is capable of.
"Any manager would love to get in a world-class player to give the dressing room a lift but it's so difficult and I don't think it's going to happen. I think they've got enough."
