ARSENAL appear set to officially announce the signing of Basel's Mohamed Elneny after the Swiss club tweeted he is sorting out a 'potential transfer'.
The defensive midfielder missed Basel's training due to the circumstances surrounding his reportedly imminent move.
The 23-year-old has attracted the attention of Arsene Wenger with the Gunners in desperate need of bolstering their holding midfield options.
Long-term injuries to this season's first-choice duo Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla have seen the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini fill in of late.
However, with Arsenal chasing a very possible Premier League title, Wenger has been forced to make a move in January, and Elneny now seems a certainty to arrive.7
We can confirm that #Elneny is currently not in training to sort out a potential transfer. That’s all we can say at the moment. #FCBasel

If the move is secured in time, Elneny could potentially feature at the Emirates for Arsenal against Sunderland in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.
Otherwise, the deal should be secured in time for Elneny to feature in Arsenal's next Premier League contest at Liverpool on January 13.
With the huge opportunity of title success, Elneny can bring his experience from Basel that's seen him help the Swiss side win three successive league titles.
