Sampaoli to target Sanchez as Chelsea boss
Jorge Sampaoli will make Alexis Sanchez his primary transfer target if he is given the Chelsea job this summer.
The 55-year-old resigned as Chile boss earlier this month after leading them to Copa America glory in 2015.
Arsenal's Sanchez scored the winning penalty as his side overcame Argentina in the final and was a crucial part of Sampaoli’s team.
And News News Blog Sport understands that should Roman Abramovich offer the Argentinian the Chelsea job when Guus Hiddink departs at the end of the season then Sampaoli wants to make the 27-year-old winger his first signing.
Sanchez has been in terrific form for Arsenal since arriving from Barcelona for £19.7million in 2014.
The former Udinese forward has 35 goals in 71 games for the club and it is that form, along with his 91 caps for Chile, that makes him an attractive prospect for both Chelsea and Sampaoli.
However, Arsene Wenger will be desperate to hang onto his talisman with a move to rivals Chelsea the worst possible outcome for the French manager.
Arsenal eye bargain deal for Inter midfielder
Arsenal could get Marcelo Brozovic for as little as £15.2million, according to reports in Italy.
Wenger is said to have made a £12m bid for the player earlier this month but has yet to land the 23-year-old.
And with Roberto Mancini having completed the purchase of Eder this week Brozovic’s departure may now be possible if Arsenal raise their bid by as little as £3.2m.
Arsenal have already bagged Mohamed Elneny this transfer window, but with injuries leaving the Gunners short of personnel in midfield Wenger is keen to ensure they have enough depth to compete across three competitions during the run-in.
Kieran Gibbs considering exit
England defender Kieran Gibbs could leave Arsenal if he does not break back into the first team.
The left-back has made just two Premier League starts all season and will struggle to win a place in England boss Roy Hodgson’s team at this summer’s European Championship in France.
And according to the Daily Star, Swansea, Newcastle and Crystal Palace are all monitoring the situation.
But Gibbs himself is said to be happy to sit tight and wait until the summer to reassess his long-term options.
