after a disastrous title defence that left the Blues sitting 16th in the Premier League.
Former Stamford Bridge boss Guus Hiddink is the bookmakers' favourite to replace Mourinho, likely on an interim basis.
Express Sport understands owner Roman Abramovich wants Pep Guardiola to be Mourinho's permanent successor, when his contract at Bayern Munich expires in the summer.
 
Guardiola is believed to have told Bayern he will leave the Allianz Arena when his deal runs out.
And the Daily Mail report Chelsea have already sounded out Guardiola about taking over at the west London club, only to be told they need to make major changes.
 
It is added Guardiola is not convinced about joining Chelsea, with Manchester United and Manchester City also in the running for his services.
Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone, who could cost £15million to lure from Spain.
