Mikael Silvestre: Why Ryan Giggs is the key to this Manchester United star’s development
Anthony Martial has suffered a slump in form

FORMER Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre believes Ryan Giggs has a pivotal role to play in the development of Anthony Martial.

The young striker made an instant impact at Old Trafford following his arrival at the end of the summer transfer window, scoring four goals in as many games.
But since then he has scored just twice in 18 appearances for club and country.

With captain Wayne Rooney out of form and suffering his own goal drought, pressure has been piled on Martial to perform despite his young age.
But Silvestre, who also played for Arsenal and Inter Milan, feels the 19-year-old will improve and assistant manager Giggs will have a key role in his development.

He said: "At a club like Manchester United, there are expectations. At some point, he will start to feel the pressure.
"He will improve and then people will not forgive him if he doesn't score in two or three games in a row.

"I think that Ryan will have a good relationship with Anthony to help him improve.
"Even though Ryan was a winger, he played with strikers. He knows their attitudes, their movements, he knows how to read the game.
"He will have the words and the will to build a good relationship with Anthony to help him improve."
