MARK HUGHES has insisted Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland is not for sale at any price
The 22-year-old England goalkeeper starts in tonight's Capital One Cup quarter-final clash with Sheffield Wednesday having been in brilliant form since taking over as No1 when Asmir Begovic moved to Chelsea in the summer.
Hughes laughed off suggestions of £20m January bids for Butland and said: "He's not going anywhere. People are aware of him and have been for a long time. I wouldn't even place a value on him."
Butland was the penalty shoot-out hero in the last round against Chelsea and Hughes is looking for more of the same tonight.
His men do need warning about the dangers posed by the Championship side who have already knocked out Arsenal and Newcastle.
Hughes said: "They were one of the teams that we would have wanted before the draw was made along with a home tie.
"There are only so many things that we can realistically win so why would we not have a real go at it."
Wednesday head coach Carlos Carvalhal hopes the club's travelling fans can inspire his players to produce more Capital One Cup heroics.
More than 4,500 Owls supporters are expected to follow them to the Britannia Stadium in the hope of witnessing another big upset.
Carvalhal said: "It will be cold (on Tuesday night) and there will be rain probably. It's not a good day to go to the football and if you have 4,000 fans there or whatever, I said to my players we must play to our fans."
