Fabian Delph wants to make up for Aston Villa heartache and win silverware with Man City
Fabian Delph hopes winning silverware with Man City will better his chances of Euro 2016 selection
FABIAN DELPH wants to make up for his Wembley heartache and improve his chances of securing a place in England’s Euro 2016 squad.

After suffering the disappointment of losing the FA Cup final in his last game for former club Aston Villa in May, midfielder Delph is keen to make amends by helping Manchester City lift the Capital One Cup.
And he knows if City can win some silverware it will only improve his hopes of making Roy Hodgson’s party for France next summer.
With most of their title rivals already knocked out of the competition, City take on Championship club Hull in the quarter-finals tonight (Tues) having been installed as clear favourites to win the trophy for the second time in three years.

Delph, who scored on his belated first start for City on Saturday, is keen to make up for lost time. "I'm here to win trophies and I see no reason why I'm not going to do that with the squad that we've got,"he said. "It's an unbelievable squad.  I got to the FA Cup final with Villa, we really had to fight to get there and we felt sharp for the final.
"Losing [to Arsenal] really hurt but getting there was an achievement in itself with the squad we had. It wasn't a great squad but there was a good togetherness. It was a massive achievement for the club, especially with the state it was in. We stayed safe [in the Premier League] and got to the final.
“But that's all in the past now, I'm looking forward. I’ve got a new set of team mates who I'm really enjoying playing with and I see it going the other way this year. I'm confident we can win something this time.

“We’re favourites and rightly so. With the squad we've got you expect us to win the majority of games we play in. We've been through our bad spell now."
Delph, 26, was boosted when Hodgson included him in his last squad despite him having missed the first three months of the season with two hamstring injuries. Now he wants to make sure he stays in his thoughts all the way to France.
"It's a big year for me,” he added. “The opportunity is there for me to go and represent my country in a big tournament. Hopefully I can keep putting in good performances and make sure I go.

"It was pleasing that I still made the last squad despite the injuries I've had.  Roy has been unbelievable with me. I was fighting relegation last year with Villa and I was still making the squad and still a regular starter. I owe a lot to him and hopefully I can keep putting in performances for my club and take that into England duty.”
