Jurgen Klopp is said to have the financial backing of FSG in January |
NEWS NEWS BLOG SPORT brings you the latest transfer news from Anfield.
Liverpool held positive talks with Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic, according to Goal.
It's understood Jurgen Klopp's assistant Zeljko Buvac got the ball rolling with the young Serbian star.
And the 19-year-old seems to have had his head turned, admitting he must choose the 'best environment' for his development as a player.
“I had a talk with Liverpool, but I did not receive yet any agreement. I'm still a Red Star player," he said.
“I’ll try to respect the club, the fans and the general public, but I think that for myself I have to choose the best environment where I will get the chance to play and where I work with good coaches in good conditions."
Jurgen Klopp has the financial backing of Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group to spend in January, according to club legend John Aldridge.
"I wouldn't read too much into Jurgen Klopp saying he won't be splashing the cash in the January transfer window," he told the Liverpool Echo.
"I doubt he'll go on a spending spree but I do think he'll try and bring in maybe one player.
"With Ings out for the season and Sturridge's problems, it may be a front man. Equally, he might be looking to add a creative spark in midfield.
"Jurgen will know who's out there though. And if he can get his man, I'm certain he'll have the full support of FSG who fought hard to bring him here – and will want to back him now."
Mamadou Sakho is a target for Roma in the January transfer window, according to reports in Italy.
Corriere dello Sport claim the club's sporting director Walter Sabatini has been in contact with the Reds.
It's understood he has enquired about the availability of the 25-year-old ahead of a January swoop.
Sakho is understood to be keen on a move away from Anfield in order to cement his place as a first-team centre-back ahead of Euro 2016.
The Frenchman has made 11 appearances for the Reds this season in all competitions but lost his place to Dejan Lovren following a knee injury.
