GUUS HIDDINK appears to have been confirmed as Jose Mourinho's replacement at Chelsea.
Mourinho was unceremoniously sacked by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich yesterday after he lost the support of the dressing room.
Former Blues boss Guus Hiddink is the frontrunner to replace Mourinho on an interim basis and is the overwhelming favourite with bookmakers.
And in the early hours of this morning, the Australian national team looked to have confirmed the move after posting this on Twitter.
"Our former boss has taken charge at @ChelseaFC - Good luck Guus! #GoSocceroos," the official account of the Socceroos wrote before deleting the message.
Hiddink managed Australia between 2005 and 2006, three years before he first took over at Stamford Bridge on a temporary basis.
And former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman claimed Hiddink told him he is on his way to the London club.
"I don't know if it's confirmed, if the club has announced it, but Guus told me earlier," Kezman, is quoted as telling Croatian newspaper Index.
"He is a top coach who knows what to do every time. He knows when to tighten the belt, but also when to loosen. He is a good coach and even better psychologist.
"I'm convinced that with him Chelsea will recover and rise in the table, and I'd also say they are one of the favourites for the Champions League."
