JAMES FORREST and Leigh Griffiths have been urged to snub big-money moves to England and fulfil their potential at Celtic.
Ronny Deila confirmed talks are planned with both players about extending their deals.
Forrest’s current contract expires in December 2016, and there is interest in him from English Premier League clubs.
Griffiths is more settled at Parkhead having already tested himself south of the border at Wolves.
But Deila wants both men to pledge their long-term future to the Parkhead club.
In the case of 24-year-old Forrest, Deila said: “We will contact his agent. I think he is interested in staying.
“He has a better profile now with playing more games and training more.
“We have only seen half his potential so hopefully we can get together and discuss a contract for the future
“If he is going to continue developing, he needs to stay here for a longer period.
“There are a lot of things that I want to see him do better, but he looks fitter now because he is training more and he has more consistency.
“I don’t think he is afraid any more of going on the pitch and being injured.”
Top scorer Griffiths, 25, is key to Deila’s plans. Deila added: “We have talked about an extension for Leigh and we have very high hopes. He wants to stay and we want to keep him.”
Meanwhile, Anthony Stokes is back from a two-week club suspension and training with the first team.
The Irishman has apologised to Deila for remarks made on Twitter about being left out of the team, and while he won’t feature against Motherwell tomorrow the future is down to him.
Deila said: “He will not be in the squad this weekend but we have talked and the situation is the same as before.
“He has to improve the things that I have been telling him for one year, and if that happens then he is available.
“He came back with a positive mind and is humble, but again it is about performances.”
