Arsene Wenger defended Arsenal's medical practices |
ARSENE WENGER has defended Arsenal's medical practices despite their growing list of injuries.
The club's injury problems worsend this week following injuries to Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla, leaving Joel Campbell as the only outfield player in Wenger's squad who has not been injured in 2015.
And the Gunners have come under huge criticism for their growing number of injuries, but Wenger was quick to defend his side's medical record.
He said: "[Injuries] are a debate that I leave to specialists. We compare our injuries across Europe and I don’t think we have more injuries than anyone else.
"We have tests. We have medical tests.
"We are quite sophisticated in testing our players. I had a chat with Sanchez after the game. We test them every week."
Sanchez injured his hamstring in last week's game against Norwich, but Wenger said the player had been adamant before the game that he was fit to play.
he added: "Sanchez is adamant he felt fine. If I have to take the blame I do. It was not an obvious mistake."
Despite the injury crisis the Gunners could be boosted by the return of Laurent Koscielny for Saturday's game at home to Sunderland, while Theo Walcott could also be back in the squad.
