Barca admit £240m Brazil star Neymar will sign mega contract with Man United to miss out

Neymar was linked with a mega-money move to Manchester United this summer

BARCELONA have admitted they are looking to start contract talks with Neymar following interest from Manchester United.

 

United failed to make a marquee signing this summer, but splashed out £58million to land 19-year-old France striker Anthony Martial in the final days of the transfer window.
The Red Devils chased the likes of Barcelona ace Neymar, Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller and Real Madrid star Gareth Bale to no avail this summer.

 

Reports suggested United were willing to spend a staggering £240m on transfer fees and wages to bring Neymar, 23, to Old Trafford.

And while the Brazilian has publicly distanced himself from United, new Barca technical director Robert Fernandez has revealed contract talks are planned with the former Santos man.

 

"It's an issue that we will solve soon," he told Spanish newspaper Sport. "We'll talk with the father. We are very calm because everything that the player and his people convey, is that they want a continuation. And we want to continue. We must find a formula so that everyone wins.

"I will not start on the years and the amounts, or whether he will be the second highest paid because those are issues that the board should evaluate."

La Liga players have been have accused of using interest from the Premier League to earn new lucrative contracts in the past.

Neymar's team-mate Dani Alves and Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos were linked with United before signing new deals this summer.
