DANIEL STURRIDGE is set to miss Liverpool's Premier League clash with Watford as his injury nightmare continues.
Sturridge made his comeback from a calf strain against Newcastle when he came off the bench for the last 28 minutes at St James' Park.
However, the England striker complained to club staff of a tight hamstring after the game, which kept him out of Liverpool's 0-0 with Sion four days later.
Before the Europa League tie, manager Jurgen Klopp had been optimistic about Sturridge's chances of a swift recovery.
“It is a little hamstring. Nothing more,” Klopp said.
“Now we have 10 days, I would say, until we think about if he should play. That would be the Watford game maybe.
"If he can run in eight days and be ready for physical training.”
But Sturridge has yet to return to full training, making his involvement on Sunday when Liverpool travel to Vicarage Road unlikely.
And with the ex-Chelsea man having missed most of Klopp's short tenure at Anfield, the German manager is keen to tailor a training programme to his striker's needs.
“We have to train with him and make sessions with him as soon as he’s prepared for them,” Klopp said earlier this week.
“At this moment, he trains aerobically and it’s very important to give him a better base than he had before and that he can work on this.
“I said before Southampton with the last injury, that is the history and the situation with players who have been injured for a long time.
“We have to train, that’s all, and to give him more resistance for the intensity of football. That’s what we’ll do together with him.”
