| Cesar Azpilicueta has paid tribute to Jose Mourinho |
CESAR AZPILICUETA has issued a public show of support to Jose Mourinho following his sacking from Chelsea.
The Portuguese manager was dismissed yesterday by Blues owner Roman Abramovich following a terrible start to the season.
The defending champions are one point above the relegation zone after losing nine of their first 16 Premier League matches this season.
Guus Hiddink, who managed the Blues for a brief spell in 2009, has been lined up to as an interim replacement.
And Azpilicueta, who was given his big chance at Stamford Bridge by Mourinho, has paid tribute to his old boss.
He posted on Facebook: “Today is a sad day. I would publicly like to thank Jose Mourinho for his contribution to this club and for everything he has taught me over the years.
“I want to wish him all the best for the future. With him we have achieved very important titles and memories for the fans that will remain in the history of Chelsea forever.
“He will always be remembered. Thank you mister.”
