CHELSEA have reportedly made an offer to sign Paris Saint-Germain ace Marco Verratti.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim the 23-year-old attacking midfielder has been offered the chance to join the Premier League champions.
Jose Mourinho's Chelsea have had a disastrous season, languishing in 16th place in the table and are just one point outside of the relegation zone.
The 52-year-old has reportedly said he will not ask Blues owner Roman Abramovich for January transfer funds and if he was to spend money in the New Year then he would not be spending big.
However, reports in Spain suggest Verratti could be drafted in to turn Chelsea's season around.
Recent defeats to minnows Bournemouth and high-flying Leicester mean Mourinho's men have suffered nine league defeats already this season.
Last season's PFA Player of the Year Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas have failed to produce the goods in midfield for Chelsea this season, so Verratti could be a welcome addition at Stamford Bridge.
The Italian international has made 16 appearances for the Ligue 1 giants so far this season.
