The Force Awakens is on target to break box office records in the UK and abroad.
Cinemagoers in the UK and Ireland racked up almost £10 million in ticket sales on its first day of release on Thursday - setting a new opening day box office record. Midnight screenings alone contributed £2.4million in revenue.
The whopping £9.64million total haul beat the previous record of £9.48million, set by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in 2011.
Two million tickets were booked in advance of the Force Awakens release, setting a new record for advanced ticket bookings in the UK and Ireland.
Which must be music to the ears of Disney and director JJ Abrams.
Now, we wonder if THEY can hum that darned theme tune?
