ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger reckons other clubs should not give in to fan pressure and wield the axe prematurely.
 
The Frenchman is the longest serving manager in England having been in charge of the North Londoners for 19 years.
A 3-0 away win at Olympiakos on Wednesday saw Arsenal qualify for the Champion League knockout stages unexpectedly.
Wenger appears to have rewarded the board’s faith in him but others are not so lucky and he was amazed that .
 
“It surprised me as he had done a good job last year,” he said. “I was quite surprised.
“Why do managers lose their jobs? The modern world is more impatient. It is always down to people at the clubs. 
“Public opinion often lives in the present and you could say they need to be stronger than ever to resist to that.”
 
Despite the euphoria of , Wenger knows his men cannot afford to see their standards drop as they travel to bottom of the table Aston Villa on Sunday.
“We came back Thursday morning but we have no injury worries after the game,” he said.
“No-one of the short term injuries will be back.
“We wanted to stay in the Champions League, it was very unlikely.
"It was a fantastic performance in the end that got us through.
"Now we’re in it let’s focus again on the Premier League.”
