Petr Cech had a busy night during Arsenal's 5-1 loss at Bayern Munich on Wednesday |
Cech, 33, has impressed between the Arsenal sticks since his switch from Chelsea in the summer.
The four-time Premier League title winner cost Wenger £10million.
He has kept eight clean sheets in 15 appearances this season and Wenger insists the Czech rivals the best to have played in England.
“I believe there is no coincidence. It’s just class, consistency and quality," Wenger said.
“And knowing him well after a few months i am not surprised. He analyses everything.
“He is gifted, super-talented and he is one of the greatest goalkeepers ever seen in this country."
Discussing Cech's future, Wenger insisted the player - who was ousted at Chelsea by Belgium international Thibaut Courtois - could play for as long as Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar did.
“He plays in a position where age is less of a restriction than in any other job," Wenger said. "I think (he can last until) 37 or 38.
“Some go longer but once you start to have a “four” the intensity is more difficult.
"Van der Sar was close to 40 and still doing well.”
