Chelsea missed out on their trio of top transfer targets, it has been revealed.
Jose Mourinho, struggling this term with the Blues in 15th place, was left devastated after failing to land any of the men he wanted this summer.
The Portuguese made high profile moves for John Stones but was rebuffed by Everton.

But, according to the Sun, he was also desperate to land Raheem Sterling and Gareth Bale.
Chelsea's start to the season - having lost six league games from their first 11 - has seen them slide 14 points behind leaders Manchester City and Arsenal.
And while Mourinho has ranted and raved about the officials and luck going against them, he reportedly blames the club's failure in the market as the main source of their issues.
Sterling left Liverpool for Manchester City in a mega £49million deal while Bale stayed put in Madrid despite big interest from Manchester United.
And Chelsea were left to bring in Pedro from Barcelona who, despite hitting the ground running, has struggled in west London.

al Madrid are ready to launch a £64m bid for Manchester United misfit Memphis Depay, according to the Telegraph.
The Holland winger has struggled in the Premier League with Louis van Gaal growing fed up with his antics.
The youngster played well in the early European games but has been dropped for the last few weeks leading to suggestions of unrest.

Holland manager Danny Blind admits he is a player that doesn't function very well in a team.
"I think Depay is a player for the future. But there are other issues to look at. Perhaps Louis van Gaal has also said something," he said.
"In football you must function in a team. He doesn’t always do that. I have also told him when I called him to say he’s not in there. That’s something he has to learn."
