ANDY COLE has been ruled out of the upcoming UNICEF charity match at Old Trafford due to kidney problems.
The Manchester United legend was expected to line up for the England XI against a World XI in the game organised by UNICEF ambassador David Beckham.
However, due to an ongoing issue with his kidneys the striker has had to pull out and will no longer be involved in the 'The Match for Children'.
"In June of this year I suffered kidney failure, caused as a result of contracting an airborne virus and I have been under medical care ever since," he said in a statement.
"I was admitted to hospital and diagnosed with a condition called Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis."
The 44-year-old has spent close to three weeks in hospital undergoing a kidney biopsy and dialysis.
The treatment, involving a continued course of steroids, has led to a slight change in his appearance, but he's glad to be on the mend.
He added: "Together we have been through some dark days. However, the good news is that I am feeling better as each day passes and the consultant is hopeful that I will make a full recovery by next spring."
The charity game will take place on November 14 at Old Trafford. Tickets are now available on the Manchester United website and are priced from £20 for adults and £10 for children.
