LIVERPOOL are confident Philippe Coutinho’s hamstring injury is not serious and are refusing to rule him out of Sunday’s game with Swansea.
The Brazilian international underwent a scan last night on the problem which forced him to be substituted after 68 minutes of the 4-1 dismantling of Manchester City.
Results showed Coutinho suffered only a minor strain and he is not expected to be sidelined for long.
Liverpool face Bordeaux in the Europa League on Thursday at Anfield and given Coutinho’s importance to the side it is not certain if he would have featured anyway.
The Reds then return to Premier League action on Sunday, and Coutinho's fitness will be assessed on Friday and Saturday before a decision is taken on if he will play.
The diagnosis is a major boost for Liverpool with Coutinho having excelled recently with four goals in his last three matches.
