GARY NEVILLE believes Manchester United are two players away from creating a team that can challenge for the title.
The Red Devils sit one point behind rivals Manchester City in the Premier League table after drawing 1-1 with second-placed Leicester on Sunday.
Louis van Gaal has been criticised for his defensive style of play that has seen United struggle to find the net, despite having an impressive defensive record of six clean sheets in eight games.
United have been heavily linked with a move for Barcelona ace Neymar and Real Madrid duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in recent months.
And Neville believes his former club must sign two superstars to add some creativity to their side.
"If you put two more players into Manchester United's team, say a Gareth Bale or a Cristiano Ronaldo into that team, that team could win the league. Because the structure that is being built at this moment in time is solid.
"But they need that match-winner, that Neymar, that Luis Suarez, the one that is going to light up a game and score one or two goals to take it away, then all of a sudden they would look like a Barcelona, because they're dominating possession, making teams look foolish."
United's next match sees them play West Ham at Old Trafford on Saturday (3pm).
