Mesut Ozil and Toby Alderweireld have been great for Arsenal and Spurs |
ARSENAL and Spurs go head-to-head on Sunday and the Gunners dominate our combined north London derby XI eight players to three.
Based on this season's form most choices were blindingly obvious but also some selections will cause controversy and debate. The likes of Hector Bellerin, Toby Alderweireld and Mesut Ozil are the first names on the team sheet. While Francis Coquelin and Harry Kane only just get in ahead of Eric Dier and Olivier Giroud.Petr Cech - The former Chelsea goalkeeper gets in the team for his response to his debut howlers against West Ham. Saved Arsenal on several occasions and has kept six clean sheets.Hector Bellerin - The young Spaniard has grown into one of the most attacking right-backs in the Premier League and is showing no sign of slowing down. A clear class above Kyle Walker, who has had a difficult 18 months.Laurent Koscielny - Among the best centre-backs in the country. Arsenal look much weaker when he is not around.Toby Alderweireld - Settled into life at White Hart Lane seamlessly following his arrival from Southampton. Formed a strong partnership with Jan Vertonghen.Nacho Monreal - The left-back has established himself as Arsenal's first choice ahead of Kieran Gibbs and the quality of his defending as improved considerably. Ahead of Danny Rose who is still liable to make a error.Francis Coquelin - Continues to prove the doubters wrong with his performances. Quick, aggressive and his ball distribution is improving every game. Eric Dier deserves an mention for the way he has adapted to his new position.Santi Cazorla - The heartbeat of the Arsenal side. He is thriving in the deep-lying playmaker role. Pundit Gary Neville description of the Spaniard "toying" with Bastian Schweinsteiger was apt.Alexis Sanchez - Made a slow start after returning late in the summer but has rediscovered his form in the past month. The Chilean live wire is a constant menace to teams.Mesut Ozil - Arsenal fans have waited a long time but it feels like the German has finally arrived in the Premier League. With 23 assists, he has made more than any other player since his debut in September 2013. He has been a joy to watch this season.Christian Eriksen - Probably the best free-kick taker in the league and one of the most creative talents. His relationship with Kane is crucial to Spurs' success.Harry Kane - Another player who made a slow start but has bounced back superbly. Has scored five times in his last three games. Olivier Giroud has also been in outstanding form. Sunday's match could come down to which striker is more clinical.DO YOU AGREE WITH THE TEAM ABOVE? LET US KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW...
