Norwegian prodigy chose Real Madrid over Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal but now wants out
Odegaard was given the chance to shine in pre-season, but has since failed to appear for Los Blancos
REAL MADRID youngster Martin Odegaard wants to play first team football - and he is prepared to leave the club he joined in the summer if he has to.
The 16-year-old midfielder featured twice in pre-season but has failed to make an impression on Rafa Benitez since, and is back playing in the third tier of Spanish football for Real Madrid Castilla - the club’s B team.
And now Spanish newspaper Marca are reporting that he is frustrated with the management and is pushing for a move away from Castilla.
The Norwegian made his international debut age of just 15, attracting international attention and scouts from almost all of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Odegaard, already a regular in the Stromsgodset first team in Norway’s top flight, was courted by Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea, even admitting that a move to Anfield would be a dream come true.
However, a training session at the Bernabeu and a pep talk from Cristiano Ronaldo, along with the promise of an £80,000-a-week contract, were enough to convince the youngster that Madrid was the club for him.
Celtic’s Ronny Deila attempted to sign the teenager on loan to the Glasgow club back in September, but was unsuccessful in his bid, while Rayo Vallecano are also said to be interested in a short-term deal.
