Teixeira has 16 goals already this season |
BRAZILIAN forward Alex Teixeira has told Chelsea to come and get him as soon as January because he wants to move to a bigger club.
The 25-year-old’s 16 goals in 11 games have helped Shakhtar Donetsk to the top of the league in the Ukraine, albeit only on goal difference.
Shakhtar lost Luiz Adriano to AC Milan and Douglas Costa to Bayern Munich in the summer, and now their top scorer Teixeira looks set to move to Chelsea in January, as the London club look to buy their way out of a terrible start to the season.
“When Douglas and Luiz left last season, the coach (Mircea Lucescu) asked me to stay,” said Teixeira.
“I obeyed and stayed. But I know now that I want to get out. I think that will facilitate this transfer, it will be good for the club.
“The president told me that they only didn’t sell me before because of these other two negotiations [Douglas and Luiz].”
Since moving to Shakhtar in 2009 at the age of 19, Teixeira has racked up 61 goals in 142 appearances, form that has attracted the attentions of a number of big clubs around Europe.
Teixeira would be following the route that Willian took to Chelsea |
"I am very happy to know that a club like Chelsea are interested in me," Teixeira added.
"It is important to compete in a league like the Premier League. If it were in January that would be excellent. For my part it would be great to face a new challenge."
