David Beckham backed Louis van Gaal's methods at Manchester United

DAVID BECKHAM has backed Louis van Gaal's methods at Manchester United, after reports suggested that his tactics in the defeat to Arsenal were criticised by his player's.
The Times reported the Dutch manager was encouraged to adopt the counter-attacking tactics which had seen Arsenal win just one of their previous 13 league encounters with United.
But Van Gaal rejected the request in favour of pressing Arsene Wenger's side and they were caught out as Arsenal ran riot, scoring three goals in the first 20 minutes.
This is the second time this season where there has been a split between Van Gaal and his players, as last month Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick held talks with the manager over his training methods and the style of football being played.
Beckham, who still considers himself a United fan, is however a believer in Van Gaal's methods.
The former Real Madrid midfielder was part of United's Class of 92 and believes a similar period could be on the horizon for his old club.
With the likes of Paddy McNair, James Wilson, Andreas Pereira and Tyler Blackett all given opportunities under Van Gaal, he is confident about United's future.

"I would come and watch this team," said the former England captain.
"To see some of the young players we have got coming through in this team, I think obviously you can see what the manager is doing.
"(It was) a tough result at the weekend, but we move on very quickly from these results."
