Claudio Marchisio is reported to be a target for Liverpool |
LIVERPOOL have made an official approach to sign Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio, according to reports.
Italian publication Calciomercato claim the Serie A giants rejected an offer from Anfield in the summer.
And it is also claimed new manager Jurgen Klopp is equally keen to tie up a deal, with the german ready to shell out up to £23.5million on the Italy international.
Juventus chief executive officer Giuseppe Marotta confirmed interest in his star players was rife throughout the transfer window.
Speaking before yesterday's 0-0 draw with Inter Milan in Serie A, he said: "We get so many offers for our players, but we are used to buying not selling.
"Not only Liverpool, we have received several offers."
Marchisio signed a new contract at Juventus in July |
The 29-year-old only penned a new deal at the Juventus Stadium in July.
At the time, Marchisio also revealed he had been the subject of offers from both England and the Bundesliga.
However, he was quick to pledge allegiance to the club he has played for all his career and Marotta is confident he will finish his playing days in Turin.
"We have renewed with him, we focus strongly on Claudio and I believe that his first thought is of finish my career here," he added.
