Juan Mata admits it's a crucial month |
JUAN MATA insists Manchester United need to turn it on this month.
United face a crucial period following an inconsistent start to the season.
They went into the last weekend of matches at the top of the league, but were blitzed by Arsenal inside 20 minutes.
The Gunners hit three quick goals to kill them off and Louis van Gaal's side have dropped to third and are now two points behind leaders Man City.
United face Everton on Saturday, CSKA Moscow in the Champions League, Man City and then Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup.
And the Spain playmaker reckons they've got to get it right to stay with the pack.
"Once I’m back in Manchester we will have to get ready for a few games that are going to be tough and thrilling," Mata wrote in his blog.
Mata has started all eight Premier League games so far this season |
"First against Everton, always an intense and complicated match, and next week against CSKA Moscow and Manchester City.
"October is meant to be a very difficult month and we must be ready for it."
Former manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes United could win the league if their new signings settle by Christmas.
He told ESPN: "It's that kind of league, anyone can win it now. Leicester are the most consistent - they've only lost one game.
"If we get to New Year up near the top, we'll have a good chance."
