JAN VERTONGHEN believes Harry Kane can become the Premier League's best player.
The England international appears to be suffering second-season syndrome this term, having scored only once for Spurs - the 4-1 win over Manchester City.
Expectation was always going to be high on the striker after his impressive goal tally last term, netting 32 times in 56 games for club and country.
However, Vertonghen believes his slow start is not a reflection on his ability, and insists defenders have just got wise to his threat.
And he has backed the 22-year-old to find his shooting boots and become one of the Premier League's finest players.
He said: "All eyes are on him in our team. We are helping him to get the same or even more goals for this season as he did last time.
"Defenders are on him and he knows that. He is a smart guy, is a professional and works hard. The goals will come.
"I'm convinced he is going to be one of the best players in the Premier League one day and maybe the best. Harry is always there and will always score goals."
Kane has scored three goals in 14 appearances this season, netting twice in England's Euro 2016 qualifiers with San Marino and Switzerland.
