Rio Ferdinand reveals Sir Alex Ferguson's captaincy snub at Manchester United hurt him
Rio Ferdinand was captain of England, but never permanent captain of Man Utd
RIO FERDINAND has revealed Sir Alex Ferguson's decision not to make him permanent captain of Manchester United hurt him.

The former QPR defender, a £30million British-record signing in 2002, captained England and led his club to Champions League glory in 2008.
But at Old Trafford he was never given the armband formally by Ferguson and speaking to CNBC he admitted that the snub hurt him.
"I would be lying (if I said) it didn't," the 36-year-old said. "It is one of the things that pushed me on."
Ferdinand also revealed that he and fellow centre-half Nemanja Vidic, who left United for Inter Milan in 2014, often talked about a perceived lack of credit from their former manager.

"With Ferguson, he was very much on your case at all times," he added.
"It was good. He was very much about personalities and working you out. I used to feel I was never given enough credit. Me and Vidic used to talk about it quite a lot.
"It wasn't until I retired he said 'your personality, if I had given you too much credit, you might have got carried away'.
"All the time I was trying to get that credibility from him. He did have that for me as a player."
