Google Nexus 5X is available in either 16GB or 32GB variations |
GOOGLE will start taking orders for its highly anticipated Nexus 5X smartphone today.
The Google Nexus 5X is available in the UK today, starting from £339.
The US search firm announced the new smartphone alongside a pricier and larger Nexus 6P earlier this month.
Built by longtime collaborator LG, the Google Nexus 5X will be available in the UK, United States, Canada, Ireland, India, Korea and Japan.
Additional markets in Europe, Asia and Latin America will roll-out the Nexus 5X in the weeks to come, Google has confirmed.
The Nexus 5X is sure to prove popular amongst Android fans, as the original Nexus 5, released back in October 2013, was a favourite amongst Android purists.
The updated Google handset boasts a manageable 5.2inch Full HD display – which should be much easier to use one-handed than the pocket-straining Nexus 6P phablet.
LG has packed a Full HD resolution into the LCD display, which works out at a sharp 424pixels-per-inch.

The third collaboration between LG and Google is powered by a snappy 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and 2GB of RAM.
Google is offering two options for internal storage, 16GB or 32GB, as well as a $50 Google Play Store voucher for anyone who buys the device from Google's store.
Just like its larger cousin the Nexus 6P, the new Google smartphone sports a fingerprint scanner, which is dubbed Nexus Imprint.
Nexus Imprint is used to quickly unlock the smartphone and secure your contactless transactions with Android Pay – currently rolling out across the United States.
A Micro USB-Type C connector is used to charge and sync the new smartphone.
The Nexus 5X also has the same 12.3megapixel with f/2.0 aperture, IR laser-assisted auto-focus and 4K video capture as the Google Nexus 6P.
The rear camera also supports slow-motion 120fps video capture for the first time, which is also now supported in Google Photos to store and edit.
On the front of the device, there is a five-megapixel selfie camera with the same f/2.0 aperture.

A hefty 2700mAh battery powers the device through the day.
The Nexus 5X is also amongst the first smartphones to ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
"Nexus devices are about having the newest, purest Android experience possible in an advanced package that doesn’t break the bank," said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications.
"The Nexus 5X was designed from the ground up to live up to the expectations of the millions of Android purists worldwide who won’t accept second best.
"After two successful collaborations, we think customers will agree that this is our best Nexus to date."
The 16GB and 32GB models will be priced at £339 and £379 respectively and Google says the first online orders will be sent out to customers on October 22nd.
