The Nintendo NX has been boosted by the news of Pokemon's future appearance on the platform |
THE News News Blog brings you the top reports from around the World Wide Web, including Nintendo's NX platform boost, Halo 5's Cortana campaign and Rockstar's stealth update.
The Nintendo NX has been given a huge boost from two developers who look set to expand a major franchise onto the new platform.
The NX has been described as more of a platform than a single device, which would make sense when looking at the Japanese games giants plans to release on mobile platforms, while also taking into account its knowledge of developing successful handheld devices.
A new patent spotted by fans appears to show a new handheld device which could be connected to that platform.
The Pokemon Company have revealed that they plan to improve the cloud services connected to their popular franchise for the new platform, another shrewd move if the future is set to contain several different ways of playing the same title.
Spike Chunsoft, a Japanese video games publisher, has also confirmed it is preparing to work on new games for the device.
“For stationary consoles, we’ll focus on PlayStation 4. After, Nintendo’s new hardware, the NX," president and CEO Mitsutoshi Sakurai, told Famitsu.
Spike Chunsoft are best known for their work on the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita, with titles such as Pokemon Mystery Dungeon proving to be a big hit.

Halo 5 will see the return of Cortana, according to new reports.
The loss of the Master Chief's AI companion is a main theme in Guardians and is something that he must come to terms with after the events of Halo 4.
343 Industries' Frank O'Connor told Halo waypoint: "In a video game where exploration and information are paramount, an AI makes a lot of sense.
"Halo 5 will be the first entry in the Master Chief’s mainline story where he has to survive without that AI companion, and reflect upon what he lost when Cortana sacrificed herself."
It is still clear what, if any role Cortana will play in the game, although recent reports suggest that she will have a cameo.
Halo 5: Guardians will see the Master Chief having to cope without Cortana |
It appears she will appear to the Chief but in the form of a memory, although this has yet to be confirmed by Microsoft.
Executive producer of Halo 5, Josh Holmes, recently spoke more on the subject, explaining how the Master Chief's Spartan companions help fill in the void.
"In Halo 4 we were very focused on those two characters and this intimate relationship they had against a backdrop of action and high-stakes drama. In this game, we still have Chief at the center of it all, but he’s now surrounded by a team of Spartans.
"Finding the time to explore all those characters and give each of them a chance to establish themselves was an interesting creative challenge," he told Venture Beat.
Is Rockstar's Agent set to return? |
The company's studios are on the lookout for staff with specialities in stealth gameplay, raising hopes of a return to the long dormant Agent title, which was first announced as a PS3 exclusive in 2009.
A job being advertised by the company states: "The ideal candidate will have deep experience working with physics-based, procedural animation technology in video games.
"A background working with weapon design and destructible environments is highly desired.
"Advanced physical and digital prototyping skills to establish the pillars of the asymmetrical cooperative stealth experience required."
The co-op stealth gameplay reference drops a tantalising hint that Rockstar could be ready to reboot the Agent project, although the vague description could also fit into a hundred other projects.
An animation systems R&D programmer is also being sought at Rockstar NYC, who can "help us in developing advanced animation systems for large open world character based games."
