BUNGIE have unveiled Destiny's Eververse Trading Company, a new Microtransaction system that many fans have voted against.
Player will have the option of snapping up emotes using a new currency called Silver, this can be bought using real cash in either Xbox Live or the PSN Store, depending on your system.
This is all set to kick in on October 13, with Tess Everis offering 18 new emotes for purchase.
A bungie statement on the new changes explains that it will be used to support the team while they create new content for Destiny and insists it will only be an optional avenue for fans, who will also get some free Silver paid into their accounts next week.
"To acquire these items, you’ll first need to pick up some “Silver,” a new in-game currency that will be available for purchase through the store associated with your console," the statement explains.
"Images and descriptions for each available emote, along with pricing information for Silver will be made available Tuesday, October 13th, alongside the launch of the in-game storefront right here on Bungie.net as soon as the content is live.
"If you’re not interested in what Tess has to offer, you won’t ever be forced to pluck an item off of her shelf.
"You’ll still receive updates to the game, and you won’t lose a Crucible encounter or fail to clear a Raid because you didn’t have the right Eververse Trading Company emote equipped."
Bungie signed off by saying that they would be observing fan feedback on the new system and it looks gamers on Xbox and PlayStation are not going to disappoint.
A new poll has been set up by fans asking if the Destiny community 'agree of disagree with micro transactions making their way into Destiny'.
The response has garnered over 4400 votes and provides a snapshot of the overall feeling from today's announcement.
At this moment in time, 56% of gamers who voted in the poll say they disagree, giving fans a commanding voice on what their views are as a community to the changes.
One fan commented: "What is wrong with microtransactions? You guys are complaining about something that has not happened yet.
"They even addressed how this will not change gameplay. NOW....if in the future they do then you all have the right to give them hell."
Bungie will need to take note of this feedback and track what happens following the release of the Eververse Trading Company next week.
The studio recently revealed the thinking behind one of the newly discovered secrets in The Taken King expansion, found by fans earlier in October.
