Arsenal beat Watford 3-0 yesterday |
JAMIE REDKNAPP says Arsenal should sign at least two new players in the January transfer window.
The Gunners were the only side outside the top five leagues in Europe not to sign an outfield player in the summer.
They currently sit second in the Premier League having started the domestic season well.
But two defeats in the Champions League has highlighted some shortfalls within the squad.
And Redknapp, speaking on Sky Sports, says new recruits are required if the Gunners are to challenge for the title.
"Look at everybody else this season - everybody has had their struggles and Arsenal have more than enough," Redknapp said.
"I also look to January and think they can bring in one or two players. The last window was a really strange one to say the least.
Arsenal reportedly want to sign Aleksandr Kokorin |
Antoine Griezmann is another reported transfer target of Arsenal's |
“They only got Petr Cech and not getting any outfield players, I thought at the time, was a huge mistake.
"If they go and win the league, you will say (manager) Arsene Wenger was right. I don't think there's a lot to fear.”
It emerged today the Gunners are keen on landing £7million Dynamo Moscow forward Aleksandr Kokorin, whose contract expires next summer.
And reports in Spain also claim Wenger will seek to land Atletico Madrid’s star man Antoine Griezmann before Euro 2016 kicks off in France next June.
Arsenal beat Watford 3-0 yesterday, while Manchester United recorded the same result at Everton and leaders Manchester City saw off Bournemouth 5-1.
Discussing the title race, Redknapp added: “Manchester United had a brilliant performance, Man City can turn it on but they can also throw games away.
"Arsenal have found some rhythm. They had a hard start to the season when they lost at home to West Ham and Olympiakos and Dinamo Zagreb, but at the moment they look as good as anybody, so why can't they win the league?"
