TIM SHERWOOD admits he must address “problems” in the Aston Villa squad as the club edge towards the relegation zone.
Villa lost 1-0 to local rivals West Brom today as Saido Berahino put his recent transfer spat behind him to bag the winner.
Micah Richards had a goal disallowed in the second half on a rare foray forward for the hosts.
And Sherwood, whose side now sit just a point off the bottom three, conceded he has work to do, as Tuesday's League Cup clash with Birmingham looms.
"West Brom deserved to win the game to be perfectly honest,” the manager said.
“We showed a little more appetite in the second period but didn’t create too many clear-cut chances.
“We are disappointed but we know where the problems lie and we will try to put it right. I'm sure we will.
"Credit to West Brom, but I recognise the problems at the moment and need to look at it again to make sure I’m not being too emotional.
“But it's a transition period at this club. The performances haven’t been as bad as the result, though today is an exception as I’m disappointed.
"I can look into the eyes of my players and know they are on side."
Defeat leaves Villa winless since the opening day of the season, while the Baggies move up to 10th place in the Premier League.
