Sir Alex Ferguson reveals reason why he left Manchester United
Sir Alex Ferguson won 13 Premier titles with Manchester United
SIR ALEX FERGUSON has revealed that he would have stayed on as Manchester United manager, but for the death of his wife Cathy's twin sister, Bridget Robertson.

United have struggled since Ferguson departed at the end of the 2012-13 season, with his replacement David Moyes lasting just nine months in the job, before Louis van Gaal took the helm.
But United may have been blessed with more years under the Scotsman before his wife's sister passed away in October 2012 - and Ferguson knew then that he had to retire in order to devote his time to his wife.

Ferguson had previously said in his autobiography that the family bereavement had acted as a catalyst for his retirement from football.
“I definitely would have carried on," Ferguson told The Telegraph.

“I saw she [Lady Cathy Ferguson] was watching television one night, and she looked up at the ceiling. I knew she was isolated,” Ferguson said “Her and Bridget were twins, you know?”
“But when I told her this time I was going to retire she had no objection whatsoever. I knew she wanted me to do it.”
Ferguson spent 39 years in management, 27 of them at United, winning 13 Premier League titles with the Red Devils.
United travel to Southampton on Sunday (4pm) hoping to get back to winning ways after their midweek Champions League defeat.
