Premier League spending sets new record during transfer window
Kevin de Bruyne cost Manchester City £54million
SPENDING by Premier League clubs during the 2015 summer transfer window has hit a record high.

According to analysis conducted by the respected Deloitte Sports Business Group, the total gross transfer activity since the end of last season reached £870m - £35m more than the record set last summer (£835m).
The net transfer spending was £460m - which is also a record.

These figures were boosted by moneybags Manchester City, who have spent £150m in their pursuit to reclaim the Premier League title, including £54m on Belgian winger Kevin du Bruyne from Wolfsburg, and £49m on Raheem Sterling from Liverpool.
Alex Thorpe, Senior Manager in the Sports Business Group, said: "This level of spending continues to be driven in large part by the increases in domestic and overseas broadcast revenue in recent years."
Added to the £130m spent in January, one billion has been paid out by top-flight clubs in the calendar year of 2015.
