Metal Gear Solid has a future at Konami
And following the release and success of Metal Gear Solid 5, Konami have given a further update on the franchise's future and what to expect from the company in regards to its gaming output.
In a recent interview, Graham Day the community manager for Konami UK, said that Metal Gear could continue without Kojima, giving the example of Metal Gear Rising and further nods to the triple-A games set to be released.
"Yeah, course it can. Metal Gear is about the story, it's about the characters..." Day told Game On Daily.
"That (Metal Gear Rising) was an example of the title being taken in a new direction by separate teams with obviously hands-in from other parties.
"And that was in itself a very, very good game as well, and that was obviously led by a completely different team.

The Phantom Pain has proved a hit with gamers on Xbox One, PS4 and PC
"Things have been taken out of context but that's never changed.
"Just because mobile gaming has been embraced, that doesn't mean everything else has to quit. Konami has a history of making the best games around and that is something that will continue.
"That won't change anything going forward. So people should believe in Konami, and if I was to use a tagline, PES 2016's tagline is 'Love the past, play the future.'
"And that is there for a reason. The future isn't ending now. The future has a long, long way."
Konami recently gave an update on Metal Gear Solid 5's DLC story status and clarified some of what is to come in Metal Gear Solid Online.
