LEGENDARY actor Harrison Ford shocked a host of dedicated Star Wars buffs ahead of the release of the latest instalment in the film franchise.
The 73-year-old thespian, who will reprise his role as Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, surprised some of the movie's dedicated followers via Skype sessions.
During the reel, Harrison gatecrashed numerous video chat conversations to raise money for a new fundraising campaign dubbed Star Wars: Force For Change, sponsored by Omaze.
The charity's staff members dialled up sci-fi enthusiasts to let them know about the chance to meet the Star Wars cast at the premieres in London and Los Angeles next month.
But they were in for a treat when Harrison dropped in, at one point wearing a vintage Han Solo mask and sending a family into fits of giggles.
Fans' reactions ranged from awe to delight, and one die hard space lover even burst out into tears upon her virtual meeting with the iconic silver screen star.
"A year and a half ago, we launched a brand new initiative called Star Wars: Force for Change that aims to inspire all of us to make a positive difference in the world," said Star Wars director J.J. Abrams of the charity.
"If you were among those who originally donated, thank you. But if you missed out, here’s your chance to join us.
"My favourite part: instead of benefitting just one cause, this time each member of the cast has nominated a cause they're passionate about."
Star Wars: The Force Awakens takes place 30 years after defeating the Galactic Empire, and the hotly-anticipated flick will hit UK cinemas on December 17.
