Man Utd chief in Man City jibe and claims they'll never be like them or Liverpool
David Gill thinks a lack of history is holding Manchester City back on the international stage
FORMER Manchester United chief executive David Gill believes believes Manchester City will never be as big as his old club on the international stage.

Despite United's cross-city rival starting the season in scintillating form and wining two Premier League titles in recent years, Gill reckons United will alway trump them for international appeal.
He believes a lack of history and tradition is holding them back from becoming a world force which means they can't compete in the business stakes.

"I’m not being arrogant here but it will never be as big as Manchester United in Asia and certain markets," Gill was quoted as saying by The Telegraph.
"Look at Liverpool, the club haven't won the league for so many years, but they are very popular in Asia.

"The big teams with history and heritage, like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Real Madrid, have that."
Despite their apparent struggles off the pitch, Gill was quick to praise the work by owner Sheikh Mansour.
"They made mistakes but they now have a very good team and you can’t argue with that," he added.
"I think you also have to give credit to their vision, so to speak.
