Liverpool owners will not sack Brendan Rodgers after Man United defeat
Brendan Rodgers' immediate position at Liverpool is not under threat
BRENDAN RODGERS will not be sacked despite Liverpool's poor start to the season.

Liverpool were dismantled 3-1 by Manchester United on Saturday, leaving them tenth in the Premier League table.

Despite winning their opening two fixtures, the Reds are now without a win in three matches ramping up the pressure on boss Rodgers.

Having spent around £220million since taking over at Anfield in the summer of 2012, this campaign is vital for the Northern Irishman's long-term future.

But News News Blog Sport understands Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group are not thinking about dispensing with Rodgers.

Successive defeats to West Ham and Manchester United (were Liverpool conceded three goals each game) have put Rodgers' position in the spotlight.

Key absentees haven't helped his cause, with captain Jordan Henderson flying to America for a second opinion from renowned specialist Dr James Cozzarelli on his troublesome foot injury.

Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana also missed the loss to United but Daniel Sturridge has given his manager some good news by returning to full training.
