Jose Mourinho's Chelsea side play Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League tomorrow |
JOSE MOURINHO has said his Chelsea players do not need a psychologist because they are "men".
The Blues manager has overseen a rocky start to their Premier League title defence - losing three of their five games so far this season.
The campaign has been blighted by the fall-out of Mourinho's criticism and subsequent punishment of team doctor Eva Carneiro and physio Jon Fearn.
He also substituted John Terry at half time of Chelsea's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City last month and on Saturday saw his side lose 3-1 at Everton.
But asked if the team need a psychologist to help kick start their domestic form, Mourinho said: “No. No sports psychologists.
And Mourinho insists there is good spirit in the squad despite concerns the quiet atmosphere is reflective of the team's deflation.
“I like people to communicate," he said. "You don't need to scream to communicate. You don't need to fight to communicate.
"Communication is very important, and I try to improve my teams at that level. After that, fights or no fights, it's not important.
"If it happens sometimes between people who like each other very much, it's not a drama. But we didn't arrive at that situation.”
