Emyr Huws rescued a point for Chris Powell's side |
EMYR HUWS scored a spectacular equaliser to deny Nottingham Forest a place in the top six.
The on-loan Wigan midfielder crashed home a deflected 30-yard drive to make it four goals in four games since joining the Terriers.
The Wales international, 21, cut his teeth at Manchester City and has showed his class since moving to West Yorkshire.
And although his late strike needed a little bit of luck to beat Dorus de Vries it was well enough struck to be worth a point.
Forest had looked as though they were on course for a third successive away win thanks to a a first goal in English football from on-loan Lille midfielder Ryan Mendes but their smash-and-grab tactics just failed to pay off as Chris Burke hit a post just before Huws levelled it.
Forest boss Dougie Freedman had earlier marked out ex-Forest striker Ishmael Miller as Huddersfield's dangerman - even though he had endured a miserable three-year stay at the City Ground which yielded just four goals.
But it was on-loan winger Mustapha Carayol who caused Forest the initial problems with some darting runs and dangerous crosses from the left and Harry Bunn who had the first effort on target after 23 minutes.
Yet within 60 seconds, the home side had fallen behind to a classic sucker-punch as Forest grabbed the lead with almost their first meaningful attack.
Both full-backs combined with Daniel Pinillos delivering a deep cross for Eric Lichaj to head down for Mendes to sweep the ball into the roof of the net from 12 yards.
Town were looking for their third successive win for the first time under Chris Powell and only the fourth time since going up to the Championship in 2012 and also started the second half brightly.
But Bunn was denied by Kelvin Wilson's block and Forest could have made sure when Burke hit a post and Martin Cranie superbly cleared Chris O'Grady's follow-up off the line.
