Danny Welbeck has been out of action since April and won't be back for months |
ARSENAL fans have reacted furiously to the news that Danny Welbeck is set for a sustained period on the sidelines after undergoing surgery.
The Arsenal striker picked up a cartilage injury at the end of April and has been unavailable ever since.
In a puzzling statistic, the man let go by Manchester United just over a year ago has already spent more time on the sidelines with the Gunners than he did during five seasons at Old Trafford.
His recovery has stalled once again and an operation will sidelined him for "months", leaving the club increasingly light up front.
The north London faithful have once again questioned manager Arsene Wenger's decision not to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal were linked with a move for Karim Benzema that didn't materialize |
They were linked with ambitious moves for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and PSG"s Edinson Cavani but neither came to fruition as the window slammed shut on Tuesday evening.
The Gunners boss blamed an inflated market on his reluctance to dip his toe but that has prompted many to question his Premier League title ambitions.
Danny Welbeck has missed more days through injury at Arsenal (189 days), than his previous 5 years at Man United and Sunderland (138 days)

So Danny Welbeck set to be out for a number of months after knee surgery... Makes not buying a striker even more ludicrous. #Arsenal
