Genoa rejected an £11m bid for Diego Perotti |
GENOA turned down an £11.4million bid from "an English club" for Bournemouth and Watford target Diego Perotti.
That is the claim of Genoa president Enrico Preziosi, who revealed this morning that a deadline day offer was made for the midfielder.
“I rejected an offer for Perotti on Monday,” Preziosi confirmed.
“Then yesterday an offer of £11.4m (€15.5m) came in from England. I told the lad, and we decided together to turn it down.
“You can’t sell someone like Perotti on the last day of the transfer window, the money would have made us comfortable, but we’re in a better place now than a few years ago.”
Bournemouth were believed to have entered negotiations with Genoa over a deal for Perotti. who joined the club from Sevilla last summer.
Watford were also believed to have lodged a £7m offer for the 25-year-old back in June - only for it to be turned down.
Back in 2011, both Liverpool and Tottenham were linked to the player, who had made an impression at Sevilla after joining from Deportivo Moron.
Perotti boasts two caps for Argentina and scored four times in 27 Serie A appearances for Genoa last season.
