Barcelona stumped over £140,000-a-week contract for Arsenal star

BARCELONA will have to offer a king's ransom to prise Theo Walcott away from Arsenal, according to reports.

is said to have caught the eye of Barca scouts, who are keen on landing midfield recruits come the New Year.
The Nou Camp club are seeking a replacement for winger Pedro, who joined Chelsea in a £21.4million switch before the summer transfer deadline.

Current back-up Rafinha has been ruled out for the season with a knee injury, leaving the Liga champions thin on the ground.
Barca's worldwide transfer embargo meant they were unable to fill the position over pre-season.

And Tuttosport claim they have stockpiled reserves and will bullishly enter the transfer market this winter.
The Italian newspaper quote German publication Sport Bild as reporting Walcott is on Barca's list of targets.
He is seen as a player who could compete with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar for a starting place in Barca's forward three.

However, the chances of manger Luis Enrique bagging Arsenal's front man are reportedly slim.
For Walcott, 26, renewed his £140,000-a-week contract at the Emirates Stadium just this summer and Arsenal are in no need to sell any of their players.
His new deal runs until 2019, by which stage the former Southampton trainee will be 30 - and Barca have plenty of options elsewhere.
