Sir Alex Ferguson: My Chris Smalling revenge after Arsenal stole Aaron Ramsey from Man Utd
Chris Smalling has improved massively under Louis van Gaal
SIR ALEX FERGUSON has revealed he got revenge on Arsenal for beating them to Aaron Ramsey by stealing Chris Smalling.

Welshman Ramsey was being coveted by United and Arsenal in 2008 after breaking through at Cardiff at 17-year-old.
The midfielder seemed set to move to Old Trafford after they announced on their website that a fee had been agreed with the Welsh club for the player.

However a last ditch face to face meeting with Arsene Wenger persuaded the Ramsey to join Arsenal instead, thus denying Ferguson.
And in his new book, Leading, the Scotsman says he got back at his old adversary by signing Chris Smalling in 2010 with the help of the Fulham boss at the time, Roy Hodgson.

He said: "I got my revenge when Roy Hodgson, then the manager of Fulham, was instrumental in helping us snatch the defender, Chris Smalling, away from Arsenal."
Smalling has been in excellent form for club and country this season and captained United when Wayne Rooney was injured.
