Erik Lamela cost Spurs £30million two summers ago |
TOTTENHAM are waiting for Inter to confirm a deal for Erik Lamela after reportedly agreeing loan terms for the flop striker.
Spurs are keen to offload their £30million record signing before transfer deadline day next Tuesday.
It was believed a £25m deal with Inter had been struck but reports in Italy now claim that figure is much lower.
In fact, Inter have not only pushed down the price but are holding off the transfer until their efforts to land another player are concluded, claim Gazzetta dello Sport.
It is understood the Serie A giants will only complete Lamela's loan move if they fail to secure Ivan Perisic from Wolfsburg.
Perisic, 26, is manager Roberto Mancini's first choice with less than a week to go before the transfer window shuts - but Wolfsburg are determined to retain their star man.
As for 23-year-old Lamela, Spurs can expect to earn £4.4m from the loan deal if it goes through.
Sky Sport Italia claim there is also a mandatory option to buy the striker at the end of the season for £10.3m.
That would leave Spurs £15.3m down on the player signed for for a club record fee from Roma back in August 2013.
Yesterday the player's father spoke to Gazzetta about the deal, stating: “I can confirm the rumours are true and the interest for Erik is real. We are waiting for more developments over the next few days.
“We would like a return to Italy and are open to negotiations. It’s true that he gave his best in Italy and that is probably more suited to his characteristics.
“Erik was very happy in Serie A and had two great years with Roma. We would like a return to Serie A and we appreciate the Inter option.”
