David De Gea was forced to watch on as United won 1-0 |
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Louis Van Gaal has insisted Real Madrid must pay up if they want to sign David De Gea.
The Spain international was forced to watch from the stands after Van Gaal him left out of United squad for their match against Spurs.
Sergio Romero started in goal for the Red Devils and kept a clean sheet as they won 1-0 at Old Trafford.
De Gea wants to join Madrid but Van Gaal is adamant they will not let the keeper go cheaply.
Van Gaal told BT Sport: "I cannot say [when the saga will be over] because I am not the most important part.
"I am not the most important part with David De Gea.
"The most important part is the player and the club who wants to buy him.
"He’s our best player for the past 2 or 3 years so we cannot let him go so easily. We want to sell at the same level as we pay. We want to keep him of course."
